I am an 18yr. old female & about 95% sure i want to join the USCG. Anyone have any advice/experiences to offer?

I have been thinking of my future and right now i feel that i'm not where i want to be, and figure that by joining the USCG, it would be a great experience. Not to mention the health benefits, college credits and everything else that will benefit me in my future. Anyone have experience? Or advice?I am an 18yr. old female %26amp; about 95% sure i want to join the USCG. Anyone have any advice/experiences to offer?
The first thing after joining is to figure out what rate ';job'; you would like to do. Don't let the length of time on the waiting list influence your decision to much. It's better to wait 2 years for a job you like than to otherwise. Consider HS Hospital Corpsman if you want to get in the medical field or MST Marine Science Tech if you like dealing with environmental problems such as oil spills.

It will be tough for your first few months but after that you'll like it. You may want to get out after 4 years and then try to get a job with the federal government. Quite a few veterans work for federal agencies.
